Roger L. Bansemer was born on July 25th, 1948 in Clearwater, Florida where at an early age he showed artistic ability. He attended the Ringling School of Art and Design in nearby Sarasota, and after graduation served in the Navy as Illustrator/Draftsman for the “Cruiser-Destroyerman” magazine sketching and writing his way through numerous countries. He returned to the States in the mid 1970s, exploring abstract painting in New York City before discovering his calling in highly naturalistic depictions of landscapes, wildlife, beachscapes and nautical themes on canvas and large-scale murals. In 2000 and 2005 he made journeys with a scientific expedition to view the wreck of the H.M.S. Titanic, resulting in a book and series of paintings drawn from the experience. Today he continues to work alongside his artist wife Sarah at their home in St. Augustine, as well as producing televised painting and travel series that air frequently on PBS stations around the country.
