This is a pastel on paper by Robert Brackman, an important Russian artist who emigrated to the United States and settled in New London, Connecticut. He was a teacher at the Art Students League of New York and had a distinguished career as a portrait artist, and he was known for the realism in his paintings. Among others, he painted John D. Rockefeller and Charles Lindbergh.
The pastel shows three nudes and is done in color oil pastels on reddish wove paper. The pastel is signed "Robert Brackman" in the lower right corner. The paper has slipped down and extends out a bit beyond the matting at the top, but there is no damage to the pastel, and otherwise in great condition. The overall size is 37 3/4 x 30 5/8 in. and the image size is 25 3/4 x 19 3/4 in.
