Richard Franklin Bartlett (1900–1989) was an American artist renowned for his intricate pen-and-ink drawings and lithographs that captured the essence of mid-20th-century American life. Born in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, he briefly attended the Vesper George School of Art before embarking on a prolific career in commercial illustration. Bartlett's detailed illustrations were the sole visual content in Newcomen Society publications for over four decades, highlighting his prominence in the field. His clientele included esteemed Boston jewelers like Shreve Crump & Low and various manufacturers in the Brockton area. Beyond illustration, Bartlett produced lithographs, drawings, and paintings, with several of his works housed in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Notably, his lithograph "Alone" (1949) was selected for the Library of Congress's permanent collection during the Seventh National Exhibition of Prints, standing out among 1,219 submissions. His legacy continued through his son, Richard C. Bartlett (1924–2016), who also pursued a career in art
