Richard "Dick" Hay (1942-2020) American, Large Stoneware Pottery Vase. Organic vessel or vase with an earthy color. Layered glaze effects with a wabi-sabi aesthetic. Signed Dick Hay on the underside. 

Size: 11 x 9 x 25 in. 

Dick Hay is an internationally recognized ceramic artist whose work has been exhibited in over 200 shows across the U.S., Japan, Canada, Russia, Latvia, and Korea, and is held in major museum collections worldwide. He taught at Indiana State University for 40 years, earning multiple teaching awards, including the NCECA Excellence in Teaching Award and the university’s Caleb Mills Award. A sought-after lecturer, Hay has spoken at over 120 institutions and conferences, and served as president of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. In 2010, a documentary on his life was produced, highlighting his influence as an artist, teacher, and mentor.
