Revere Silversmiths was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1914, capitalizing on the name of the famed Revolutionary war hero and Boston silversmith Paul Revere (1735-1818) who warned that the British were coming. They produced sterling flatware, tableware, serveware, and a line of novelty items, although they occasionally produced silverplated pieces during World War II when materials were more scarce. They became Revere Silver Co., a division of Crown Silver Inc., in 1960, and continue to produce new goods to this day.
