Ray V Prosser (20th/21st Century) Watercolor Schooner. Signed RV Prosser with an inscription about the ship and its race. This nautical tall ship is a symbol of American triumph.
Gertrude L. Thebaud was an American fishing and racing schooner built and launched in Essex, Massachusetts in 1930. A celebrated racing competitor of the Canadian Bluenose,[1] it was designed by Frank Paine and built by Arthur D. Story for Louis A. Thebaud, and named for his wife, Gertrude Thebaud. Throughout the 1930s it would race against the Canadian Champion Bluenose ultimately giving America its first championship in a great rivalry through the years. Ray lived in Barrington, Rhode Island and was a passionate sailor.
