Movado is a luxury American watch brand founded in 1881 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Achille Ditesheim and initially produced pocket watches. The company was renamed Movado, meaning "Always in motion" in the invented language Esperanto, in 1905, as it began to meet surging demand for wristwatches. Movado became best known for its signature Museum Watch, designed by Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. This iconic timepiece, featuring a minimalist design with a single metallic dot at 12 o'clock, was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1960.
