Vintage Iran silk rug, with fringe on all four sides, which is a rarity. Ancient Iran, until the 20th century AD, was called Persia – this is the reason why there are nomenclature differences (modern Iran vs. ancient Persia). Persian rugs have a long and rich history – some scholars estimate that first pile carpets might have been woven there as early as 2500 years ago. Iranian rugs are characterized by refined workmanship, a huge variety of awe-inspiring designs and deep cultural significance. This rug is in good condition, with some discoloration on fringe.
