Randahl Shop was started as a one-man silversmith in Chicago Illinois in 1911 by Swedish-born Julius Olaf Randahl (1880-1972). He had originally worked in New York after immigrating there in 1901, producing pieces for Tiffany and Gorham before moving to Chicago in 1907 to work at the Kalo Shop, which inspired him to strike out on his own. He designed handwrought Scandinavian-inspired flatware, drinkware, and tableware, and by the late 1920s had several apprentices with most of their works sold through Marshall Field. The company bought Cellini Shop in 1957, but was acquired by Reed and Barton in 1965, which continued to use their dies and tools for the rest of the decade before discontinuing them.
