This is a three-volume set of poetry titled "Poems, By William Cowper, Of The ?Inner Temple, Esq." published in three volumes by S.King of New York in 1825. The frontispiece shows an engraved portrait of William Cowper and the page after that has a generic title for all three volumes which reads "The Poetical Works of William Cowper Esqr of the Inner Temple In Three Volumes", and then the regular title page which appears at the beginning of all three volumes. The books have horizontal gilt bands and gilt lettering and gilt devices on the spines, brown calf boards, blank endpapers, and the first volume is the only one with a frontispiece; the title pages are all inscribed "Daniel Trimble 5th Avenue" at the top, then a three-page Preface and a Contents page for Volume 1, for a total of 204 pages in the first volume; there's a Contents page and an Advertisement page in Volume 2, and a total of 231 pages in Volume 2, and the third volume has five pages of Contents and a total of 212 pages in the book. The books all measure 5 1/2 x 3 3/8 in. wide and have tight bindings, with browning, rubbing, slight splits along the edges of the spines, and wear at the top and bottom of the spines and at the tips, and we couldn't find any copies published by King listed on the rare book website we use, so we've gone by three-volume sets published around the same time and found two sets published by Gilley in 1821 to get a value for this set, so it appears that this three-volume set published by S. King in New York in 1825 is actually pretty rare. #46 #5006
