Pino Daeni (1939–2010), born Giuseppe Dangelico in Bari, Italy, was an Italian-American artist celebrated for his romantic figurative paintings and prolific work as a book illustrator. Educated at the Art Institute of Bari and Milan's Academy of Brera, he developed a style influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and Macchiaioli, characterized by expressive brushwork and a focus on the human form. In 1978, Pino immigrated to the United States, where he became one of the most sought-after illustrators, creating over 3,000 book covers, movie posters, and magazine illustrations for major publishers like Bantam, Simon & Schuster, and Harlequin. His fine art paintings often depict graceful women in intimate, sunlit settings, evoking themes of love, nostalgia, and serenity. Pino's work continues to be celebrated for its emotional depth and technical mastery.
