Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) French, Print. Certificate of authenticity on the back of the piece. Titled "Gabrielle et Jean". This is an etching printed from a copper plate master first originally created for the printing of a bookpublished in France by world renowned art dealer and publisher, Ambroise Vollard in 1919, "La Vie er de Pierre Auguste Renoir", a limited edition of 1000, from which no artwork had ever been published since it's original limited release.Pierre-Auguste Renoir is known for Impressionist and post impressionist figure and landscape painting. He was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. As a celebrator of beauty and especiallyfeminine sensuality, it has been said that "Renoir is the final representative of a tradition which runs directly from Rubens to Watteau."
