Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919) was a leading French Impressionist painter celebrated for his luminous use of color, warm depictions of people, and joyful scenes of everyday life. Born in Limoges, he became one of the central figures of the Impressionism alongside artists such as Claude Monet and Edgar Degas. Renoir's most famous works include Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette, Luncheon of the Boating Party, and The Swing. His paintings are known for their vibrant light, rich textures, and affectionate portrayal of social gatherings, landscapes, and portraits.
