Phillip Anthony was born on December 17th, 1978 in Glendale, California. He drew and sketched frequently during his youth, finding himself drawn to black and white photography and processing film in a dark room. His family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho when he was still young, and he was heavily inspired by the vast untamed forests and mountains surrounding their home. When he was eighteen he moved to Florida to become a film director, enrolling at Full Sail University. He graduated in 1999, and wound up focusing more and more on cinematography due to his interest in composition and lighting. In the early 2000s Phillip happened to walk into a local art gallery in Orlando, where he encountered artists who were painting live. He began to join them on weekends, eventually committing himself to painting daily. After several months Phillip was creating photorealistic portraiture paintings using watercolors and acrylics. After being rejected by several galleries he moved back to Idaho for a brief period and switched to oil painting. He began to utilize his prior work in photography and cinematography, developing a hyper realistic style of landscape art he called Monochromatic Reflectionism that earned him his first solo show in Key West, where all his work was sold. Since then he has continued to develop his style and expanded substantially, eventually opening the Phillip Anthony Signature Gallery in St. Augustine, Florida, along with a home studio there. His mesmerizing work can be found all around the country, including at the DeRubeis Signature Gallery in Las Vegas, the Grand Bohemian in Asheville, North Carolina, and Park West Gallery in Southfield, Michigan.
