Pawel Borowski (1969) Poland, Art Glass and Steel Crow Bird Sculpture. Depicting a crow looking up at his next meal. Steel body and feet, glass eyes, beak, tail and "feathers". There have been similar ones made with different colors of glass. Signature etched Glass Studio Borowski on the underside of the glass near the butt.
From Borowski's website: Crows are complex, ambivalent symbols in our culture, evoking both respect and fear. Their portrayal in art and literature reflects this complexity, depicting them as both wise and mystical, as well as dark and ominous. In modern culture, the image of crows has taken a more positive turn. They are often seen as symbols of transformation, renewal, and the acceptance of change. Perhaps this has subconsciously influenced our artists, as our new crows are incredibly colorful!
The body, crafted from steel and enhanced with a natural rust layer, gives the sculpture a powerful, organic aesthetic. But it is the handcrafted, colorful glass elements that give each bird its unique character. CROW adds that special touch to your outdoor space: The fascinating fusion of robust steel and radiant glass conveys both rustic durability and artistic elegance. Let yourself be enchanted by the extraordinary harmony between sturdy steel and delicate glass, and secure an artwork that magically complements nature in your garden.
Proceeds from this sale will benefit students at the Ringling College of Art & Design.
Size: 51 x 13 x 26 in.
