Paolo Emilio Barberi (1775–1847) was an Italian artist and designer, born into a distinguished Roman family deeply involved in art and architecture. Trained at the prestigious Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome, where his father served as an architect of the Papal States, he studied under noted teachers such as Stefano Tofanelli and developed a refined style oriented toward perspectival painting and architectural design. Barberi produced works including lithographic and etched views—such as Quatre Vues de Nice—that combined technical precision with scenic elegance. Though less widely known than some of his contemporaries, his career reflects the artistic values of late 18th- and early 19th-century Italy, and his legacy endures through examples preserved in print and design collections.
