Pair of Lionel Barrymore (1878-1954) Cali, Prints. Depicting Nantucket scenes. Exhibitions: California Printmakers, 1934; International Printmakers, Los Angeles County Museum, 1934. Lionel Barrymore is most famous for his acting and scriptwriting work, however, while working on films in the early 20th century, Barrymore did produce many etchings and paintings. His paintings were predominantly detailed seascapes, and he had a particular knack for portraying rough seas. Barrymore aspired to be an artist but fell into the family's footsteps of acting.
