Castilian Imports is a home decor store which was founded in 1977 by Chinese immigrants in Jackson, Mississippi. They worked first as importers solely of Chinese goods for the American market, and their growing customer base led them to move their headquarters to Houston, Texas in 1990. They began to import goods from Europe as well, particularly glass and ceramics from Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Italy. To weather the economic collapse of 2008, the company relocated its headquarters to China, eventually opening their main showroom in the Shenzhen Art Exhibition Center. They found that their European aesthetic was even more popular there than in America and were able to expand, opening several more stores across the country, including in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Today they continue to explore new lines of goods and connect with factories around the world, with plans to expand into the Middle Eastern and South American market in the future.
