Pair of patinated bronze Pompeian deer from Herculaneum dating from early 20th century. These are attractive copies of ones kept in the Archaeological Museum of Naples under the inventory numbers 4888 and 4886. These Roman sculptures from the 1st century AD were discovered in the Villa dei Papyri during a campaign of exploration that lasted from 1750 to 1765 outside the site of Herculaneum.
