Pair of Antique Mid 19th Century French Sevres Porcelain Plates. Based on the markings on the underside, these were likely crafted by the Sèvres Royal Manufactory during the reign of King Louis-Philippe (1830-1848) for use at the Château des Tuileries. Similar design including a lovely turquoise ground border with slight differences in the cherubs that bookend the wreathed monogram in the center, these remarkable pieces are the height of luxury for your dining experience.

Sèvres porcelain first began in 1740 at Vincennes before being relocated to Sèvres in 1756 by royal decree, officially becoming the Royal Manufactory under Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour. Their opulent hard-paste vases, sculptures, and other decorative objects soon transformed the European luxury ceramics market with its rich colors and pioneering artistic collaborations. Surviving numerous revolutions and wars, they evolved into the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, a national treasure still producing fine ceramics to this day.
