This is an oil on canvas landscape by Friedrich Otto Georgi, a German painter who studied art in Dresden and dedicated himself to landscapes until the 1840’s, when he took part in an expedition to Egypt; he drew what was found on the expedition and eventually became a skilled orientalist painter. He exhibited in Berlin and spent two years in Rome, then returned to Dresden, where he was known as “Orient-Georgi”. The painting shows an Elb landscape with a view of Meissen and it's signed and dated 1857 in the lower right. The overall size is 22 1/2 x 22 in. wide and the sight size is 18 1/2 x 17 1/2 in. wide.
