German-born Oscar Bach was a highly talented and commercially successful metalworker in America during the first half of the twentieth century. His wide-ranging portfolio includes small decorative objects, grand architectural elements, and designs influenced by Arts and Crafts, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque Revival, and Art Deco styles. After achieving success in Europe and winning the Grand Prize at the World’s Exposition in Turin, Bach moved to New York, where he opened a metal design studio with his brother Max. He frequently exhibited his work at prestigious venues such as The Metropolitan Museum and received numerous accolades, including a medal of honor from The Architectural League of New York in 1926. Bach's impressive list of commissions includes iconic structures like the Woolworth Building, Riverside Church, Toledo Museum of Art, Temple Emanu-El, Cranbrook School, the Chrysler Building, and Radio City Music Hall.
