Byzantine Style of Iconography, with Greek Lettering, Orthodox Icon depicting the Virgin Mary atop a fountain with 4 Royal Kings / Holy Men in reverence below, while fish swim in the water. Circa Late 19th Century. The artistic culture of Wallachia and Moldavia was oriented towards the traditions of Byzantium and the Balkan Countries, and was also associated with Western Russian lands.
Condition: minor paint loss in areas, right side of painting has been continued on wood where painted canvas ends (see photos).
