Onyeka Ibe "Leisure" Oil on Canvas, Nigerian ONYEKA IBE — Nigerian-born Painter, Onyeka Ibe (pronounced ebay), was born in Anambra State, Nigeria and now lives in Atlanta, Ga. He has been described by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as"one of the most exciting young painters to emerge from Sub-Saharan Africa since the 1990's." Onyeka Ibe has achieved remarkable success and international recognition with his dramatic approach to painting figures and sceneries. He was recently awarded "The Best SOLO Artist of the Year 2006" at Artexpo New York and described as the most exciting young painter to emerge from Sub-Saharan Africa since the 1990s. He looks for inspiration in natural and humanistic traditions of contemporary realism and abstraction.
