Nicolaus Rybakovas (20th Century) Bavarian, "Picturesque Bavaria: Sixteen Water-Colors" Printed Portfolio. This oversized softcover folio with loose plates, 8 pages of text, and 16 color watercolor prints of Bavarian towns (such as Regensburg, Straubing, and Deggendorf) was printed in 1946 for the U.S. Army by Military Government Deggendorf/Bruckmann KG, Munich. It was designed to be distributed to American soldiers who remained stationed in Germany in the aftermath of the war to encourage their appreciation of the surviving architecture of the region, using lithographic prints of watercolor paintings made by the artist in 1945. Almost no information can be uncovered about the life of the artist, with these images (all signed bottom right in the plates) the only works he is remembered for.
