ND Dolfi Italian Decorative Floral Ceramic Plate. Blue, green, and yellow curling floral images throughout. Signed on back, specifying for decorative use only.

In 1941 a ceramic company dedicated to majolica works of art named ND Dolfi was formed in an old castle overlooking the town of Montelupo, Italy. Giovanni Dolfi, the founder, ran the company until 1994, when his son Silvano took over and set up a subsidiary company, Ceramica ND Dolfi. He and his children worked together until 2009, when he retired and left it to his daughters, Daria and Natalia. Each generation worked to expand but preserve the designs and quality of their pieces, focused on keeping manufacturing as self-contained as possible by using local clay and workers, with nearly 50 employees at the height of their success, from the shapers and diggers up through distributors and advertisers. The company suffered major economic losses in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, so Silvano left retirement to help his children keep the company alive, and today they continue to manufacture highly sought pieces together.
