Nancy Stewart Bassford (1925-2007) American, Oil on Canvas. Titled "Crazy Quilt" and dated "March 1982" on back. Signed lower right and on back. Depicts folk art imagery of numerous women of different ages working together on a quilt in a cozy home during a snowstorm while children play around them.

Nancy Stewart Bassford was an American artist born in 1925. Although little is known of her life, her works have appeared numerous times at auctions, and her subjects are usually domestic scenes in a folk art style, busy and colorful oil on canvas creations that showcases a simpler way of life. Often depicted in the depths of winter, and with attention to female figures in particular, her work was mostly done in the last half of the 20th Century. She passed away in 2007.
