N. Cohen is a 20th Century artist who focused primarily on scenes of Judaicia, with varying styles that capture scenes of Passover and rabbis dancing in joy. Although many of their pieces are signed and dated, and often include an inscription that accompanies the name, their origins are a mystery, but signatures are concentrated in the 1970s and 1980s. Once in a while the artist made prints, as evident by a handful of pieces that are numbered, and even depict ancient nomadic Jewish dancers and their apparel.
A shtreimel is a fur hat worn by some Ashkenazi Jewish men, mainly members of Hasidic Judaism, on Shabbat and Jewish holidays and other festive occasions. In Jerusalem the shtreimel is also worn by Litvak Jews (non-Hasidim who belong to the original Ashkenazi community of Jerusalem, also known as Perushim). The shtreimel is generally worn after marriage, although it may be worn by boys after bar-mitzvah age in some communities.
