The Venetian Carnival (Carnevale di Venezia) is a world-famous annual festival renowned for its elaborate masks, opulent costumes, and theatrical pageantry. Dating back to the 12th century, the carnival traditionally allowed citizens to wear masks to conceal their identities and transcend social class before the austerity of Lent. Revived in the late 20th century, the modern festival features grand balls, masked parades, and artistic competitions. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Venice’s canals, the Carnival continues to captivate visitors with its blend of tradition, artistry, and baroque spectacle.
