Modern Framed Cast Resin Replica of Ancient Byzantine Relief Nativity Plaque. This reproduction of the Nativity from Constantinople (dating to the late 10th or early 11th Century during the Macedonian Renaissance), the original of which is housed in the Vatican Museums, features the Virgin Mary reclining, the infant Jesus in the manger with the ox and ass, Joseph seated in contemplation, angels above, and midwives bathing the infant Christ below. The plaque is mounted in a gilt frame on dark velvet. Likely acquired from a museum or Eastern Orthodox holy place as a souvenir.

Frame Thickness: 2 in.
