Antique Russian icon of the Resurrection of Christ containing several scenes, rich with history and elaborate religious symbolism. Russians sometimes speak of an icon as having been 'written' because in the Russian language, the same word means both to paint and to write. Painted with egg tempera in reds, ochres, and blues, on a gesso wooden panel.
Size: 14 x 12 in.
