Michel Paradis Sauval (b. 1937) French, Oil on Canvas. Unique expressionist image of a female figure, possibly a dancer. Signed bottom right. A doodle of a figure and dated 2009 on the middle of the stretcher. Attribution and title on top of stretcher: "Grimaud."

Michel Paradis Sauval was born in Saint-Dié, Alsace in 1937. His youth during the Occupation was tumultuous, and he found comfort in art early on. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nancy, as well as Dijon and Paris. He rarely painted figures, instead mainly focusing on landscapes, still lifes, and flowers. His works are still represented in the Saint-Dié des Vosges Museum, and he continues to live and work in the city of his birth along with his wife, Pierrette.
