"Bucket Brigrade", this wood engraving of circus elephants at their watering trough is titled, dated and signed in pencil. Born in Lithuania, Goodman immigrated to the U.S. in 1916. He attended school in Harbin, China before returning to the U.S. in 1921 as a student at UC Berkeley. In 1927 he joined the UC faculty as a lecturer in architecture and remained with the department until his retirement in 1972. During the 1930s he was a supervisor for the WPA while exhibiting locally.
