Merel Rose was born in 1954 in the village of Biddinghuizen, a municipality of Dronten in the Netherlands. She has lived there her whole life, and started painting after her retirement from public service in 2018. Completely self-taught, she has experimented with oils, acrylics, and pastels, as well as drawing in graphite, charcoal and ink. Her works are primarily landscapes and figural/portraits in abstract styles with vibrant colors.
