Marc Kalifa (Born 1951) French/Australian, Art Glass Vase. The form has a myriad of shapes and colors throughout it, portraying the sky, the land, and the vegetation of the Australian outback. Signed and dated '93 on the underside.

Marc Kalifa was born in Paris, France in 1951 and immigrated to Australia in 1974. He started working with glass designing and making large stained-glass windows, inspired to build his own home studio in Maleny, Queensland in 1985 after several visits to hot glass studios in Europe. Strongly influenced by the Australian environment and its ancient indigenous culture, his sand cast works allow him to use contrasting textures, exposed against the translucent refracting qualities of glass and often including many media including bronze, ceramic, or gilded wood components. After working in glass sculpture for over thirty years, he began to shift more towards digital artwork and found object assemblage as the glassmaking process grew more difficult with age, but his pieces continue to find an audience and their way into collections and museums across the globe.
