Manon Cleary (1942–2011) was an American realist painter celebrated for her provocative and meticulously detailed works. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she studied at Washington University before earning her MFA from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. Cleary gained recognition for her photorealistic paintings, which often explored themes of intimacy, vulnerability, and the human condition. Her work included portraits, still lives, and provocative self-portraits that challenged societal norms and expectations. Cleary taught at the University of the District of Columbia for over 30 years, leaving a lasting impact on her students and the art world. Her paintings are held in numerous public and private collections.
