Louis Robichaud was born in Montreal, Canada in 1963. A self-taught artist, Robichaud held his first exhibits while still a teenager and has been earning a living from his art ever since. Forever conducting research to hone his craft, Louis has devoted his life to painting, his true passion. He never tires of studying ancient and modern masters and he constantly visits museums both at home and abroad. Louis gained international recognition with a series of illustrated building facades, which eventually turned into an ongoing series that is still available through major galleries like Park West and Sienna Fine Art after he discovered serigraphy in the late 1990s. He remodels the face of the cities and towns he paints by combining different elements gathered during his excursions and archival research. Beyond the naturalism, masterful composition, and dramatic use of light and shadow apparent in his work, Robichaud’s paintings and graphic works convey affection for the places they illustrate and invite the viewer to discover them.
