Louis-Marie Désiré-Lucas (1869–1949) was a French painter known for his luminous landscapes, seascapes, and scenes of everyday life rendered in a refined Impressionist style. Born in Fort-de-France, Martinique, and raised in France, Lucas studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and developed a career devoted largely to painting the landscapes of Brittany, Normandy, and the French countryside. His work is characterized by delicate brushwork, atmospheric effects, and a sensitive observation of light, often capturing coastal views, harbors, gardens, and rural settings with a quiet poetic quality. Lucas exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received recognition for his paintings, and he became respected for his skillful use of color and his continuation of the French plein air tradition.
