Lois Ehlert (1934-2021) American, Collage. By the childrens book illustrator whose books sold in the millions. Lois Ehlert is known for Children's book illustration, collage artwork. Ms. Ehlert, whose best-known book was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, made distinctive collage artwork for readers ranging in age from infancy to 10. Ms. Ehlert created 38 books for young readers — some for infants and toddlers, others for children as old as 10. Publishers Weekly, in its obituary, paid tribute to her “signature collage artwork featuring bold colors and crisply cut shapes as well as found objects.”
