Lillian Goldfarb (1905-1970) American, Green Watercolor Reclining Woman. This piece features an abstract realism depiction in hues of green of a nude female figure. The woman lays down, turned toward the viewer, one arm tucked behind her head, the other draped across her stomach. One leg is raised, the other drapes over the edge and her foot rests on the ground. This piece is matted in white and framed. Artist Signed, Lower Right Dated 1965 Overall Size: 18 1/2 x 25 5/8 in. Sight Size: 14 1/4 x 21 1/4 in. #1100 Lillian Goldfarb 1905-1970 By Jacklyn Daffner, her daughter the Dancer "Your mother could always draw," related my Aunt Edith, her younger sister. She drew with passion and chalk on the streets of New York at a tender age. She copied huge quantities of images from schoolbooks instead of producing homework. Throughout her life, my mother, Lillian, was devoted to being an artist who could master almost any art form that she highly regarded. Mamma had a fine marriage to an affectionate, caring man, my father who loved her dearly and encouraged my mamma to develop these talents throughout their years together. Beloved and admired by friends and family, Lillian was called the "Woman with Golden Hands." Her mother, Fanny, who initially wavered about – being an artist – originally created that description of her daughter in the fifties. Although she never received quite the recognition she deserved, my mother had a unique talent that should still be shared with others as she believed firmly that a piece of art should stand or fall on its own merit. No Enhancements! And it was always "Art for Arts Sake." As we enjoy displaying mother's creations, my husband and I would like to thank the ISLAND LIBRARY for their help and support. PRESENTING: LILLIAN GOLDFARB, MY MOTHER, THE ARTIST Location G HIGH
