Liezl Knoll was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1962. She graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a degree in Dentistry (BChd) and a smaller focus in Gymnastics, but a passion for color led her to start painting on silk on a part-time basis. In 1998 she attended the Dale Eliot Fine Art Course in Knysna, South Africa which resulted in the beginning of her career as a fine artist, with two group exhibitions in Pretoria, South Africa and a solo exhibition the following year. Her large, expressive portraiture and landscape work in oils and acrylics can be found in galleries all over South Africa, as well as in public and private collections around the world.
