Lewis Powles (1860-1942) British, OC. Signed and dated lower right: L.C. Powles '00. Frame condition as is (see photos). Lewis Charles Powles was born in Cirencester, England, and had formal art studies under Hubert von Herkomer, followed by studies in Munich. Powles was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1903. L.C. Powles is most well known for his watercolor landscapes although he painted a number of oil portraits and landscapes.
