Leonardo Nierman (November 1, 1932 – June 7, 2023) was a Mexican painter, sculptor, and muralist renowned for his vibrant, dynamic works that explore light, color, and movement. Born in Mexico City, Nierman initially studied physics and mathematics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico before turning to art, a background that influenced the energetic, almost cosmic quality of his compositions. His abstract style often evokes music, nature, and the forces of the universe through sweeping forms and luminous color palettes. Over his long career, Nierman exhibited internationally and created large-scale public sculptures and murals, earning recognition as one of Mexico’s prominent modern artists.
