Artist Biography:
Lee Reynolds, also known as Lee Burr, was an influential American artist born in 1936 and known for his vibrant oil paintings. He founded Vanguard Studios, which became a prominent producer of original oil paintings, making art accessible to a broader audience. The studio employed a team of artists to create hand-painted reproductions of Lee's original works, resulting in hundreds of thousands of pieces bearing his name, though only a small number were painted by him personally. His large-scale works include a notable triptych displayed in Los Angeles International Airport for over two decades. After selling Vanguard Studios in 1974, he continued his artistic journey by starting East Park Gallery, focusing on contemporary aesthetics, until his retirement in 1998. Lee Reynolds passed away in 2017, leaving a legacy of accessible art that resonated with many collectors and art lovers.
