Laszlo Dus (born in 1941 in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary) is a Hungarian-American modernist painter and printmaker celebrated for his bold, abstract geometric compositions. He studied at the Fine Art High School in Budapest (1956–60) and at the Academy of Fine Arts under Aurel Bernath (1962–67), later serving as Director of the Town Art Program in Zalaegerszeg. He founded the Egervár Artists’ Colony in 1968 and emigrated to the United States in 1974 after several exhibitions across Europe. From the late 1970s onward he was closely associated with Park West Galleries in Detroit and later represented in galleries internationally, eventually settling between Los Angeles and Budapest in 1999. Dus’s distinctive work, especially monotypes and mixed-media abstraction, features prominently in major U.S. collections including the National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Renwick Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
