Large Antique Gilt Wood Burmese Mandalay Standing Buddha Statue - AS IS. Bejeweled with some orange hue showing through where the gilt has rubbed away, standing on a black wooden stand. 

Size: 22 x 9 1/2 x 57 1/2 in. 

The position of the right hand slightly raised is called the Abhaya mudra. The term Abhaya in Sanskrit means "fearlessness," and this gesture symbolizes protection, peace, benevolence, and the dispelling of fear. The left hand in the statue is held down, which is typically the Varada mudra. This gesture represents charity, compassion, and the granting of boons or wishes. When displayed together in a standing posture, the combination of the Abhaya and Varada mudras signifies the Buddha's promise to both offer divine protection and grant the wishes or blessings of his followers.
