Laotian Ikat Pha Sinh Hip Cloth. The garment, made for women to wrap around their hips, has alternating red, white, and black stripes with dragon patterns in their traditional designs. 

Size: 52 x 31 3/4 in. 

 

Laos is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia, bordered by Myanmar and China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the southeast, and Thailand to the west and southwest. Having a population of approximately 8 million, it originated from Lan Xang, a kingdom which existed there from the 13th through the 18th Centuries, and today the Communist nation has experienced a cultural and economic resurgence after expanding tourism through efforts to preserve the culture, crafts, and artwork of the indigenous people and other autonomous tribes who live in the region.
