Ko Shwe Oung Thame (1935-1994) Burmese / Myanmar, Oil on Canvas. Wonderful landscape with buildings on the water, and a palace looking building up in the mountains. Signed and dated 1972 in the lower left. Thame was born of parents U Phone Saing and Daw Aye Hla in Kyeemyindine, Yangon on the 14th wane of Tabaung 1294 ME. He was interested in art since he was young. Thame studied art under famous artist U Ba Thett of Mandalay. Since his first participation in art exhibition entiteld "The Study The Sky and Earth" in 1961 sponsored by Sarpay Belkman (Burma Translation Society) his work were exhibited in over 300 art exhibitions. Thame was one of the pioneers and founders artist of the Gallery Orient (1970) and The Lokanat Gallery (1971). His remarkable foregin art shows were in Honolulu (1986) and Souei (1988-89). These three external art exhibition are the landmark of Ko Shwe Oung Thame art-history. it is known that his paintings were much admired by the local inhabitants. In honour of his art-mastery and gratitude his art disciples celebrated Shwe Teneration Art Exhibition at Judson Hall in his life time (1994).
