Provenance: 1920 was bought from painter. 1984, it was given to consignor around time of marriage.

Kenneth Frazier, born in June 1867 in Paris, France to American parents, was a painter of portraits and landscapes and a magazine illustrator who worked in a hybrid of Art Nouveau, Impressionist and Realist styles. His works often reflected increasing female sophistication in various social circles. Frazier moved to Pennsylvania in 1885 to attend Lehigh University, graduating with a B. A. degree. He then returned to France to study art at the Academie Julien under Jules Lefebre, before moving to New York City to work full time as an artist from 1889 on. He married Julia Fish Rogers in 1904. He was elected an Associate of the National Academy of Design in 1906, and exhibited in the 1913 Armory Show. He was also a member of the Society of American Artists and the Century Club of New York. He died at his home in Garrison, New York in August of 1949.
