Ken Carder (Born 1955) American, Art Glass Face Paperweight. The grotesque visage looms out of the glass with iridescent qualities. Signed "K.W. Carder" on the underside and dated '91.

Ken W. Carder (Born 1955) is an acclaimed American studio glass artist, drawer, and sculptor. He studied at Bowling Green State University before assisting pioneering glass artist Harvey Littleton in 1981. After he became a four-year artist in residence at the Penland School of Craft starting in 1984, he gained fame for his surreal optical glass portraits and abstract sculptural container vessels, with his distinct work widely exhibited around the country. He continues to live and maintain a studio in the mountains of western North Carolina near Boone, alongside his wife, the ceramicist Lisa Carder.
